How we approach large print

  • APH standards. Font, spacing, contrast, and layout follow American Printing House guidelines for low-vision readability.
  • Sans-serif typography. APHont and similar low-vision-optimized faces are used as defaults; adjusted to reader preference on request.
  • Redesigned, not enlarged. Pages are rebuilt from the source so line breaks, image placement, and pagination work at the new size.
  • Multiple sizes available. 18pt, 20pt, 24pt, 28pt — chosen based on the reader's IEP, preference, or the demands of the material.
  • Tests preserved exactly. Assessment formatting is maintained so the large-print version is psychometrically equivalent to the print.

Frequently asked questions

What counts as large print?

A minimum 18-point font, with adjustments for font choice, line spacing, contrast, and layout that follow APH guidelines. The goal is readability — not just bigger letters, but typography and layout chosen specifically for low-vision readers.

Is it just enlarging a PDF?

No. Enlarging a print PDF typically produces overflowing margins, broken layouts, and unreadable images. True large print is a redesign — the page is rebuilt around the new font size with appropriate spacing, hyphenation, image scaling, and pagination.

What font sizes do you offer?

We default to 18pt for general materials and adjust based on reader preference and IEP — common sizes are 18pt, 20pt, 24pt, and 28pt. Larger sizes available on request.

Do you do large print for tests and assessments?

Yes. Standardized tests, classroom assessments, and IEP-aligned testing materials are a regular part of our work — produced with the formatting integrity those documents require.
